My specific question, that I personally have not heard the answer to is; When conducting an exam, even if the examiner is fluent in the language, should the question printed on the chart be in English for later QC purposes? Or in the specific language for stipulation purposes? Please be kind if this is a dumb question!! IP: Logged
sackett Moderator	posted 09-03-2009 10:48 PM B.T., I've conducted a few of these. Here's my thoughts. The computer needs you to mark the questions in English; unless of course your computer has Chinese, Korean, Gaelic, etc. The way I do it is this. Have 2 sets of question lists for your report/file. One in English (the base language) and another identically numbered with the typed or handprinted interpreted language with English subtitles below (or above). I would do it this way to ensure anyone who re-interprets the questions can verify one equals the other appropriately. Your coordination and ID of questions with the interpreter when asking the test question verifies that the proper question is being asked compared to what you are asking/marking on the chart. Taylor Member	posted 09-04-2009 04:17 PM I type the questions in english, print off a copy for the spanish interpreter who then rewrites them to the other language. (I have only done spanish exams) When I am ready, I signal the interpreter and when he speaks I push buttons. I ask the interpreter not to re-state the defendants answers as I am capable of determining 'si' from 'no'. After the exam, I collect the interpreters written version to stay with my paperwork.
